Michelle Roy

Michelle Roy has been our Musical Director since March 2022 and has brought her excellent musical skills to our chorus.

She is guiding and teaching the group weekly
to further develop our vocal and choral skills, as well as having lots of fun.

Michelle began learning music as a young child, initially learning keyboard, flute and saxophone but found singing was her greatest attribute. She was the inaugural recipient of the Daisy Webster/Esther Nolan Scholarship which included acceptance into the Victorian College of the Arts where she studied under Dame Joan Hammond and Brian Hansford. Since graduating, Michelle has performed in musical comedies, opera and as a solo artist. She has also been Chorus Person for a number of local musical theatre productions and has been a singing teacher.

Michelle has had an approximately 30 year relationship with Sweet Adelines Australia (SAA) having originally joined Geelong Harmony Chorus as a tenor in her mid-twenties. She was the founding director of men’s barbershop chorus, the Bay City Conchords, and has sung in five
a cappella quartets. Michelle is well known as the lead of the medal winning Something Else! Quartet and is currently the lead in the very popular (and hilarious) quartet, Three Docs & a Diva. She's the Diva!

But wait...there's more! Michelle is currently a member of Sweet Adelines Australia's Regional Management Team and holds the role of Regional Communications Coordinator.
